Ukrainian troops have for the first time spotted a Russian all-terrain unmanned ground vehicle called “Chelnok” in the Kharkiv sector, the 11th Army Corps reported on April 9.

According to the corps, the system was previously demonstrated publicly in April 2024 as an engineering demining vehicle equipped with a UR-83P installation. Its dimensions are 3.8 meters in length, 2.5 meters in width and 3.4 meters in height, with a curb weight of 1,350 kg.

The complex can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h on land and 5 km/h on water.

“At the same time, its large size can be a significant drawback: the Chelnok is highly visible and is nearly as large as a passenger car, making it difficult to conceal in the terrain or among trees,” the corps added.

On March 4, adviser to the Defense Minister Serhii (Flash) Beskrestnov said Russian forces had changed tactics and begun using Shahed drones to strike front-line positions at depths of up to 20 km.
