Russian drone strike destroys $675K in Red Cross humanitarian aid in Kherson

The organization noted that the destroyed facility held critical equipment and materials designated for autumn and winter preparations, as well as rapid-response emergency reserves used to mitigate shelling aftermaths, including temporary roofing supplies for damaged residential homes.

The warehouse also stored essential medical supplies, blankets, hygiene kits, emergency power and water supply systems, and broader humanitarian cargo.

No staff members or volunteers were injured in the attack.

"Despite the loss of our humanitarian reserves, the Ukrainian Red Cross continues its operations across Kherson and the wider oblast. Our response teams will continue reacting to strike consequences and providing vital assistance to civilians," the organization stated.

On July 2, a mass Russian missile assault on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast destroyed another Ukrainian Red Cross humanitarian warehouse along with the high-value equipment stored inside.

That facility housed power generators, heat pumps, and specialized medical hardware, including stretchers, defibrillators, ultrasound diagnostic machines, and vital-sign patient monitors.

Red Cross officials confirmed that the July loss also eliminated a strategic humanitarian emergency reserve created for rapid deployment during bombardments, blazes, mass evacuations, and crisis contingencies. That reserve included blankets, bedding sets, hygiene kits, tarpaulins, plastic sheeting for sealing damaged windows, sleeping packs, and other survival essentials.

Following damage assessments from the July strike, the organization confirmed the total loss of 320,000 units of humanitarian relief goods and operational equipment valued at over $1.9M (79M UAH).
