Russian forces launched a massive strike on Kherson, resulting in the destruction of the city's ice arena, the Kyiv Capitals hockey club press service reported on April 16.
The ice arena in Kherson was opened in 2008 and served as the home venue for the local hockey team, Dnipro.
"This facility was not just a sports venue — it symbolized peaceful life in the city, where competitions and children's training sessions were once held," the club wrote.
"Now, there is nothing left but ruins. Russia is deliberately destroying Ukraine’s sports infrastructure!"
One person was killed and three others were injured in the April 16 shelling of Kherson. Russian forces launched massive strikes using glide bombs and artillery.
