Russian strikes hit energy sites in Chernihiv, leaving most districts without power

Overnight, Chernihivoblenergo reported that an energy facility in the Novhorod-Siverskyi district was damaged in the attack, leaving more than 10,000 consumers without electricity.

Later, energy workers said a key energy facility in the Nizhyn district was also damaged by the Russian strike.

“About 340,000 consumers in the cities of Chernihiv and Pryluky, as well as in the Chernihiv and Pryluky districts, are without power,” the statement said.

The city of Slavutych in the Kyiv region was also left without electricity, Mayor Yurii Fomichev said.

“Water supply is operating on backup power. We are responding as the situation develops,” he added.

In addition, Russian forces damaged a critical energy facility in the Chernihiv district.

More than 76,000 consumers in the Chernihiv and Koriukivka districts were left without electricity, Chernihivoblenergo said.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, overnight on April 6 Russia attacked Ukraine with 141 strike drones of the Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas types, as well as other UAVs.

As of 8 a.m., air defenses had shot down or suppressed 114 enemy drones. Hits by 26 strike drones were recorded at 17 locations, and debris from downed drones fell at 13 locations.

“The attack is ongoing, with several enemy drones still in the air,” the Air Force warned.
