Russian airstrikes target homes and landmarks, says Kharkiv Mayor

Russian forces in recent days have targeted only residential buildings and heritage sites in Kharkiv, Mayor Ihor Terekhov wrote on Telegram on Oct. 29, after another devastating night of series of a enemy airstrikes on the city.

“In recent days, the enemy has focused on terrorist attacks on Kharkiv, targeting residential buildings, our historical monuments, and symbols of the city, such as Derzhprom,” he said, urging residents not to ignore air raid alerts.

Earlier, Terekhov reported that four people were killed in an overnight Russian airstrike on the city using a high-explosive Grom-E1 guided bomb hybridized with an air-to-surface cruise missile.

The same night, Russian glide bombs severely damaged the UNESCO World Heritage Derzhprom building on Freedom Square in Kharkiv. Built in the 1920s, it is considered the most famous example of the Soviet Constructivist style.
