Multiple hits in Kharkiv as Russian attacks injure 20+ and damage infrastructure

Russian forces launched a strike on Kharkiv on Tuesday, Oct. 8, causing significant damage in the city, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported.

The number of people injured in the Russian strike on Kharkiv on Tuesday, Oct. 8, has risen to 21, according to the regional military administration.

According to Terekhov, the number of injured has risen to 16 people. Earlier reports indicated 11 were wounded.

Terekhov also mentioned that the city was hit multiple times, not just once. At least two people are trapped under the rubble where the strikes occurred.

Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov stated that among the victims is a 16-year-old child, and three people are in critical condition.

Syniehubov added that the strikes caused significant infrastructure damage. The specific type of weaponry used by Russian forces is still being determined.

Earlier, reports indicated a Russian strike hit Kharkiv’s Industrial district, damaging a civilian production facility.

Overnight on Oct. 8, air raid sirens were triggered across several Ukrainian oblasts due to the threat of Russian drone attacks. In Chornomorsk, Odesa Oblast, a missile strike ignited a fire in a high-rise building.

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russian forces attacked with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles and 19 Shahed-131/136 drones. Air defense systems shot down 18 of the drones.
