Russian invaders carried out a mass drone attack on Ukraine’s Odesa Oblast, damaging industrial and port infrastructure in the Odesa district despite active air defenses, regional Gov. Oleh Kiper said on Dec. 30.

As a result of strikes on an industrial facility, empty vegetable oil storage tanks were damaged and one person was injured. A civilian vessel that was in the port area was also damaged.

There is no information about fatalities, officials said. Emergency services are working at the sites. Law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of what they described as another war crime against civilians in Odesa Oblast, said Oleh Kiper.

Minister for Communities and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba уточнив that the attack damaged facilities at the ports of Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk.

“Vegetable oil storage tanks at one industrial enterprise were damaged. A civilian grain vessel flying the Panamanian flag that was in the port area was also damaged,” the minister said.

Despite the shelling, seaports continue to operate in compliance with safety requirements, he added.

On Dec. 30, emergency power outages were in effect in Odesa Oblast following Russian strikes. Due to the lack of electricity, electric public transport in Odesa has been out of service for more than two weeks.

Russian forces have been striking Odesa Oblast almost continuously for more than two weeks, targeting energy facilities and port infrastructure.
