Russian forces repeatedly try to break through Ukrainian state border in Kharkiv Oblast

The enemy is trying to continue assaulting certain settlements in the Vovchansk direction, he said.

"This is, for example, Vovchanski Khutory, where they try to assault constantly and accumulate forces," Kosse explained.

"They tried several times in two weeks to break through the state border where there have been no open hostilities yet. But the Defense Forces held back the onslaught."

Speaking about the enemy's tactics, he noted that the enemy accumulates in small groups and tries to advance.

Ukrainian defenders have noticed some changes in Russian tactics, he shared.

"It is interesting to observe how they change their tactics, their behavior, when they see a drone. Earlier, they ran from drones, now they have started to freeze," the military said.

He added that upon noticing a UAV, the enemy now tries, for example, to play dead.

"That is, our soldiers note that as soon as a drone flies over them, they immediately sit down, lie down, pretend to be dead so as not to be noticed," Kosse noted.

But, he highlighted, this does not help them much, and the drones still "fly up and finish them off."

State Border Guard Service spokesperson Andrii Demchenko reported on Jan. 19 that the Russians tried to expand the combat zone within Kharkiv Oblast for almost the entire week, but the Defense Forces repelled all these attempts.

Viktor Trehubov, Joint Forces grouping spokesperson, said on Feb. 18 that the Russians had essentially destroyed the city of Vovchansk in Kharkiv Oblast and were continuing their attempts to advance in this direction, trying to bypass Ukrainian units.

Trehubov reported on Feb. 22 that Russia controls most of Vovchansk ruins and is trying to encircle the Defense Forces in the south.
