Sports in Ukraine will witness regress amid a full-scale war with Russia, former Ukrainian legendary tennis player Serhii Stakhovskyi said in an interview with Sport-express.ua media publication on Aug. 15.

He made this forecast after being asked to comment on Ukrainian athletes' results at the Olympic Games 2024.

"We see regress in all kinds of sports, there will be no change of generations, and it will be difficult considering the fact that there is a war going on,” he explained.

“It will be particularly difficult for men. Especially men's sports will stagnate in our country due to the lack of personnel and coaches who have been drafted. I think that, unfortunately, stagnation awaits us everywhere.”

Ukraine anyway managed to win 12 awards at the Olympic Games 2024, including three gold medals, marking its best result in 12 years.

Algerian boxer Imane Khelif filed a complaint against Elon Musk and Joanne Rowling after the 2024 Olympics, it was reported earlier.
