“It was good to see that, among other distinguished guests,
King Charles III chose to single out Ukraine’s ambassador for a separate
greeting and express his support for Ukrainians,” Stefanishyna wrote on Facebook.
Stefanishyna also highlighted the significance of the
British monarch’s visit to the United States.
“This is especially valuable given the historic nature of
the visit: For the first time in 19 years, a British monarch has arrived in the
United States,” she wrote.
King Charles III arrived in the United States on April 27
for his first official visit as monarch.
Buckingham Palace announced on April 16 the official
itinerary for King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit to the United
States. The six-day trip began on April 27 in Washington, D.C., with additional
stops in New York and Virginia.
The Guardian reported that a meeting between King Charles
III and U.S. President Donald Trump would take place behind closed doors,
without cameras, over concerns about a public “Zelenskyy-style clash” and
diplomatic awkwardness.
