Storms and Russian attacks leave hundreds of Ukrainian settlements without power

Repair crews from regional energy companies are already working to restore damaged power lines, the company said.

Peak electricity consumption should be shifted to the hours when solar generation is strongest—from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—given current weather conditions, energy officials said. Electricity savings remain necessary in the evening hours, they added.

Russian drone attacks have also left consumers without power in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kherson regions as of the morning, the company said. Emergency repair work is underway wherever security conditions allow.

Severe weather on April 26 killed three people and injured two others, with emergency crews responding to the aftermath in 13 regions.

A man was killed in Zaporizhzhya when strong winds lasting about 20 minutes knocked a tree onto a passenger car, trapping the 39-year-old driver inside, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service reported. Rescuers later recovered the body.

A person was killed in Cherkasy after a tree fell onto a moving quad bike, while another man died in Zakarpattia due to a falling tree. A child was injured in Poltava after being struck by a tree.

A total of 1,121 settlements lost power due to the severe weather, officials said.
