NATO condemned Russia's "recklessness" after a Shahed drone struck an apartment building in the Romanian city of Galați, injuring two people, NATO spokeswoman Allison Hart said on X on May 29.
The Alliance remains in contact with Romanian authorities.
"We condemn Russia’s recklessness, and NATO will continue to strengthen our defences against all threats, including drones," the statement reads.
A Russian Geran-2 drone struck a residential building in Galați overnight into May 29, during a broader Russian aerial assault on Ukraine. The impact triggered a fire on the 10th floor, injuring two people.
Romania's Defense Ministry confirmed the drone was of Russian origin. Romania's Foreign Ministry described the strike as a "serious and irresponsible escalation by Russia."
