Governor of Ternopil region dismissed after corruption investigation

Volodymyr Trush, the governor of Ternopil Oblast, was formally dismissed by the Cabinet of Ministers on Dec 27 following an investigation into alleged corruption.
"The dismissal of Volodymyr Lyubomyrovych Trush from the post of head of the Ternopil Regional State Administration has been agreed to," wrote the representative of the government in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk on Telegram.
Trush has headed the Ternopil regional government since March 19, 2020.
In June 2023, NABU employees detained two former deputies of Trush — Ihor Demyanchuk and Ihor Hayduk on suspicion of demanding a bribe of 2.4 million hryvnia to approve the construction and repair of infrastructure facilities. The head of the Ternopil Regional Council, Mykhailo Holovka, was also detained.
