Fire breaks out at Primorsko-Akhtarsk airbase used for Shahed launches — satellite images

Citing satellite thermal imaging data, the monitoring group reported that distinct heat anomalies were detected in the afternoon hours near the western section of the airfield's main runway. An additional fire outbreak was identified in scrubland along the outer boundary of the airfield's perimeter.

The airbase is a well-known launch and logistics site for Russian aerial strikes against Ukraine.

On Aug. 21, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian defense forces struck a facility in Primorsko-Akhtarsk utilized by Russian troops to store, prepare, and launch one-way attack drones against Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.
