3 dead and 42 injured — incl. 4 kids — in Russia’s horrific missile attack on Kharkiv’s civilians

Earlier, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reported four fatalities.

At least 40 people were injured in the attack, including three girls aged 11, 14, and 17 years old, as well as a police officer.

Residential buildings, a health resort dormitory, and a gas pipeline were damaged in the city.

A 15-year-old boy sustained cuts from glass but refused hospitalization. A 71-year-old woman was also injured and has been taken to the hospital.

Significant destruction and damage to civilian infrastructure occurred in Kharkiv’s Kyivskyi and Saltivskyi districts, including a high-rise apartment and private residential buildings, a shopping center, a garage cooperative, vehicles, and a fire department.

Russian forces attacked the city with Kh-32 and S-300 missiles from Russia’s adjacent Belgorod Oblast, the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office announced.

The number of injured in Kharkiv has risen to 42 people, including four children in moderate condition, Kharkiv governor, Oleh Synehubov, reported on Telegram.

Russia's first strike on the Kharkiv region occurred around 4:00 a.m. EET. Police reported four hits in the suburbs of Kharkiv: a gas pipeline caught fire, a health resort dormitory was destroyed, and buildings were damaged.

An air raid alert was announced throughout Ukraine in the morning of Jan. 23 due to the threat of cruise missile launches from Russian Tu-95MS aircraft.

Russia launched another massive missile attack on Ukraine on Jan. 23, with explosions heard in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro.
