Three Ukrainian soldiers were killed and three others sustained injuries following a Russian drone strike on the western city of Ivano-Frankivsk, Mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv reported late on Oct. 11.

In an updated briefing at 10:34 p.m., Martsinkiv clarified that all three fatalities were military personnel. Three more soldiers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received medical treatment.

The strike damaged an urban building, shattering window panes and causing structural destruction across the premises.

Initial casualty assessments released by municipal authorities around 9:18 p.m. indicated two fatalities and two injured. However, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Military Administration head Svitlana Onyshchuk later confirmed that one severely wounded victim died while receiving emergency treatment at a regional hospital, raising the death toll to three.

Ahead of the detonations on Oct. 11 evening, the Air Force issued an urgent alert tracking a high-speed, jet-powered strike unmanned aerial vehicle flying along an attack vector toward the city.

The incident marks the second deadly Russian drone assault targeting Ivano-Frankivsk within a four-day span.

On Oct. 8, Russian attack drones struck an auxiliary storage facility in the city, killing a security guard on duty, according to reports by Mayor Martsinkiv.
