The rescuers died while helping civilians under continued shelling, the SES said. The victims were identified as Pavlo Yezhor, Danylo Skadin, and Andriy Remennyi.
“Russia took the lives of those who were first to rush in after the horrific strike—men who went on duty as usual, ready for anything. Before they left, they kissed and hugged their wives and children… and never returned,” the agency wrote. “Each of them had passions, dreams, and plans for life. But the enemy decided otherwise.”
Nine other SES workers were injured in the same attack, including several in critical condition. Doctors are fighting to save them, the agency said. An additional five rescuers were injured while extinguishing a separate fire in Ternopil Oblast. All are receiving medical treatment.
Russia launched another large-scale combined missile and drone strike on Kyiv overnight. Falling debris was reported in the city’s Darnytskyi, Desnianskyi, Holosiivskyi, Solomianskyi, Shevchenkivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts.
At least four people were killed and 20 others injured.
The strike damaged residential high-rises, civilian infrastructure, a gas station, and metro rail lines near Darnytsia station. Fires broke out in several locations following the explosions.
