Yarysh, who works in the USA, cited quotes from Loomer's podcast where she acknowledges that many Americans "put on rose-colored glasses" and began treating Russia with "excessive sympathy." Whenever someone mentioned Russian crimes, many Americans viewed it as an attempt to spread lies against Trump and the conservative movement, Loomer stated.
"But now, when I hear Russians declaring, 'We must denazify Ukraine,' or 'We must continue our brutal war against Ukraine,' while positioning themselves as an Orthodox Christian state when in reality they are killing hundreds of thousands of young Ukrainian Christians and supporting actual neo-Nazis in the U.S., I think: Wow, we fell for Russian propaganda. And I fell for it myself," the blogger admitted.
In her podcast, which reaches an audience of about one million Americans, Loomer spoke about how Russia kills Ukrainian civilians with missiles and drones and lies about "Ukrainian Nazis."
"For context, Loomer is one of the bloggers closest to Trump," Yarysh explained.
"She communicates with the president directly, appears in the Oval Office, and can even advise Trump on personnel decisions (she is said to have contributed to the firings of former National Security Advisor Mike Waltz and several other administration officials)."
He suggested that Loomer’s change of position could have been influenced by a visit by blogger and political activist Candace Owens to St. Petersburg, after which Owens praised the "greatness" of Russia, as well as a parallel trip by Loomer's own podcast editor to Kyiv and Odesa during periods of mass attacks.
"For now, I have no idea whether Laura Loomer’s change of mind is situational, or if it is the beginning of her evolution and realization of what Russia truly is," Yarysh pointed out.
"Undoubtedly, she is one of the most controversial figures in the U.S. conservative world. But at the same time, she is one of the most influential, listened to by millions of MAGA Republicans, including Donald Trump himself."
He concluded by calling Loomer an unexpected and useful ally for Ukraine, at least for the time being.
