Russian forces struck a gas station in the city's Kovpakivskyi district around 10 p.m., according to Serhii Kryvosheienko, head of the Sumy City Military Administration.
The aggressor then struck a second gas station in the city's Zarichnyi district around 10:30 p.m.
No casualties were reported. Fires broke out at both gas stations as a result of the strikes, Kryvosheienko added.
A Russian attack overnight into July 21 completely destroyed the Epicentr shopping mall in Sumy. Russian forces had previously carried out a series of strikes on Sumy, damaging a residential building and a shopping center and attacking rescuers as they worked to extinguish a fire.
Overnight into July 17, Russian forces struck Sumy with five guided aerial bombs, hitting civilian infrastructure, including in the city's central part. One of the strikes damaged a non-residential multistory building, and hundreds of windows were blown out in surrounding buildings.
