Russia strikes Chernihiv Oblast with missiles and drones, two killed in Nizhyn

Russian forces carried out a combined overnight strike on Chernihiv Oblast, killing two people and injuring seven others, regional governor Viacheslav Chaus said on Apr. 25.

The city of Nizhyn was hit, with Russian forces attacking it with a ballistic missile and Shahed drones. Two men aged 30 and 60 were killed, and two people were injured.

In the Horodnia community, dozens of private houses were damaged in a drone attack, and five people were injured, according to regional authorities. Hits on residential buildings were also reported in the Snovsk community.

In Semenivka, drones struck a hospital, damaging the medical facility, Chaus added.

Overall, overnight Russia attacked critical infrastructure in Ukraine with 666 aerial targets — 47 missiles and 619 drones. Air defenses neutralized 580 drones and 30 missiles, but none of the 12 Iskander ballistic missiles were intercepted.

Dnipro was the main target of the strike. Hits were reported on a four-story building and an enterprise. Three people were killed, and among the 21 injured was a 9-year-old boy.

In Kharkiv, apartment blocks and private houses were also hit, injuring a man and a 1.5-year-old child. The aftermath of the strikes was also reported in Bila Tserkva in Kyiv Oblast, as well as in the Cherkasy and Odesa oblasts.
