U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick admits visiting Jeffrey Epstein’s island in 2012

“My wife was with me, as were my four children and [their] nannies,” MSN quoted Lutnick.

“I had another couple. They were there as well with their children, and we had lunch on the island. We were on family vacation.”

The disclosure came after renewed scrutiny of his ties to Epstein. Politico reported that Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Feb. 9 accused Lutnick of lying about the extent of his connection to the sex trafficker. Lutnick had sought to downplay the relationship, telling a 2024 podcast that he had “sworn never again to be in the same room with Epstein” after 2005.

Lutnick told lawmakers he searched the Epstein case files released by the Justice Department and found roughly 10 emails over a 14-year span that link him to Epstein.

“I didn’t look through the documents with any fear whatsoever, because I know, and my wife knows, that I have done absolutely nothing wrong in any possible regard,” he said at the hearing.

Documents recently released by the DoJ show email exchanges between Lutnick and Epstein, who had been Lutnick’s neighbor on the Upper East Side of New York. The documents include arrangements for phone calls and plans for a cocktail meeting in 2011, and they indicate Lutnick planned to visit Epstein’s Little St. James island during a family yacht trip in the Caribbean in December 2012.
