“We greatly appreciate that our team's visit to Britain is the first since Andy Burnham took office,” Zelenskyy wrote in a Telegram post.
“It is an important signal of support, and the prime
minister assured that it remains unchanged.”
The leaders discussed strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, including air and naval defense. Zelenskyy thanked London for licensing its Stone Cloak electronic-warfare technology to Ukraine.
“It will be useful on the battlefield; together we can do
more on drones and other technologies,” the president said.
“We are providing Ukraine with British-made electronic-warfare technology to protect Ukrainian drones,” Burnham said on the matter.
“This will help strike targets more accurately and save the
lives of Ukrainians. It also shows what innovations our industries can create
by working together.”
Zelenskyy arrived in the UK earlier the same to meet with
the prime minister and with Ukrainian troops taking part in the Sea Breeze
exercises.
Burnham officially became leader of the Labour Party July
17 and took office as prime minister July 20, becoming the country’s
seventh prime minister in 10 years, replacing Keir Starmer.
