The U.K. Defense Ministry has confirmed that Operation Interflex — a program combining combat and leadership training for Ukrainian troops — will continue at least through the end of 2026, Bloomberg reported on Aug. 24.

According to the ministry, a coalition led by the U.K. and France has drafted plans to deploy multinational forces in Ukraine to deter possible attacks after any potential peace agreement with Russia.

In recent months, more than 200 military planners from around 30 countries have taken part in the talks.

The first phase of the package calls for strengthening Ukraine’s Armed Forces through expanded training, supported by a multinational group stationed away from the front lines.

A subsequent phase envisions a U.S. “backstop” role, including intelligence sharing, border monitoring, arms support, and potentially air defense.

More than 50,000 Ukrainian recruits have already completed training in the U.K. under Operation Interflex.
