Tuapse refinery is one of the largest oil processing facilities in southern Russia. Its refining capacity is about 12 million tons of oil per year. The plant produces fuel, notably to supply the Russian armed forces, the military emphasized.
This is at least the fifth attack on the plant this spring. Residents of Tuapse reported explosions on the night of May 27. The moments of the attacks were captured on video by Astra channel readers' cameras. OSINT analysis showed that the attack was likely aimed at the refinery once again.
Additionally, Ukrainian Air Force units used air-launched Storm Shadow missiles to strike the hardware and software systems of Russian Air Force reconnaissance automation facilities in the areas of Voronezh (Voronezh Oblast), Taganrog (Rostov Oblast), and Sevastopol (temporarily occupied Crimea).
Ukrainian Defense Forces also struck the command posts of occupying units near the settlements of Tsvitni Pisky and Sorokyne in Luhansk Oblast.
Among other targets, a Nebo-SV radar station near Kamianka and a command and staff vehicle from a Russian Buk-M2 complex near Kadiivka, Luhansk Oblast, were hit.
On May 5, AFU General Staff reported that Ukrainian strikes on the Tuapse port infrastructure and Tuapse refinery caused Russia over $300+ million in damages.
On the night of May 1, Russian Telegram channels and the Krasnodar Krai operational headquarters reported another series of explosions in Tuapse. Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) later confirmed that, alongside Military Intelligence (HUR) and the Unmanned Systems Forces (SBS), it once again struck Tuapse seaport infrastructure and Tuapse refinery. A fire broke out in the oil and fuel oil mixture tanks, and a column of black smoke rose from the terminal as a result of the attack.
