Ukrainian pilots from the 23rd Khortytsia Brigade of the National Guard destroyed a Russian Pantsir-S air defense system deep behind enemy lines, the unit reported on Facebook on April 7.
The strike reduced the enemy’s air defense capabilities and weakened its overall combat potential, the brigade said.
The destroyed system is estimated to be worth about $15 million, representing direct financial losses that Russia cannot quickly replace, the unit added.
Eliminating such targets helps improve security for the region and its residents, the brigade said.
Earlier, on March 9, units of the Ukrainian Navy, together with Special Operations Forces, struck Russian targets in occupied Crimea, destroying three Pantsir-S1 systems and a mobile fire group.
Ukrainian forces also hit a BK-16 landing craft, facilities at the Kirovske airfield, and a storage site for Orion drones, destroying four control stations, officials said.
