He added that after Russia began deploying Shahed drones in late 2022, Ukrainian forces quickly established thousands of mobile fire groups to intercept them. However, the Russian military has since adapted its tactics, improved the drones and changed their flight altitudes and methods of deployment.
“We have switched to using FPV drones to shoot down Shaheds,” Sukharevskyi said in an interview with LIGA.net
“This approach is already yielding tangible results. What's next is an ongoing technological race.”
Speaking about Kyiv’s own drone strike campaign against Russia, he noted that every Ukrainian military operation considers various intelligence data, including electronic warfare, air defense, and the security of target enemy facilities.
“Planning is everything to us; It's indispensable,” he said.
Earlier, Sukharevskyi stated that the UAVs Ukrainian forces use to attack Russian territory were manufactured in Ukraine.
On the night of Feb. 26, Russia attacked Ukraine using 177 Shaheds and various decoy drones. Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 110 of the UAVs.
