Discussions on the technical details of a ceasefire in Ukraine will begin next week, Presidential Office head Andrii Yermak said at a press briefing, broadcasted by Ukrinform on March 11.

Different security guarantee options were explored in talks between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

“Since these consultations are still ongoing, I wouldn’t want to specify anything concrete just yet... But the security guarantees we seek must fully prevent any future aggression,” Yermak said.

"Both the U.S. and European countries are involved in shaping these security guarantees."

"We understand exactly what we need, and our American partners recognize this," Yermak added.

"They are approaching the issue with understanding, but the discussions are continuing. Today, we made an important first step, and much work lies ahead."

Russia’s role in ceasefire talks

Yermak also disclosed that U.S. officials will now discuss Ukraine’s proposals with Russia.

“Following this meeting, the key decision now lies with Russia," he emphasized.

"The world will see who genuinely wants peace and who merely talks about it."

Jeddah negotiations and ceasefire offer

On March 11, Ukrainian and American delegations held eight-hour negotiations in Jeddah.

Following the talks, both sides agreed that Ukraine is willing to accept a U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, while the U.S. will immediately resume intelligence-sharing and military aid to Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine accepts the U.S. proposal, but the ceasefire will only take effect if Russia agrees.
