Ukraine's right to exist is not Russia's ‘security concern,’ says FM Sybiha

"The Ukrainian people's right to exist is not a Russian 'security concern'. Ukraine's right to determine its own future is not a Russian 'security concern'. It is Russia itself that is the world's greatest security concern," he said, adding that Russian "peace" means mass graves, kidnapped children, destroyed cities, filtration camps, execution lists, forced Russification and assimilation.

"We will never agree to such a 'peace'. Our peace plan is for Russia to get out of Ukraine and leave us alone. This will be fully in accordance with the Helsinki Final Act".

The minister called on allies to raise the cost of war for Russia and force the Kremlin to accept a just peace based on peace through strength.

This follows U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's statement at the Jan. 7 press conference at his Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach that he understood Russia's concerns about having a NATO member right on its border and that he hoped to end the war before his first six months in office.
