Ukraine rescued five children from Russia and occupied areas, including a 10-year-old boy separated from his mother since the war began, Presidential Office head Andriy Yermak reported on Telegram on March 29.
The 10-year-old boy’s mother, separated from him in another city when hostilities broke out, made several risky but unsuccessful attempts to retrieve him.
“Now the family is reunited and safe on Ukrainian soil,” Yermak wrote.
The operation was part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s *Bring Kids Back UA* initiative, with efforts led by the Ombudsman’s Office.
Yermak expressed gratitude to Qatar for mediating the return of the five children.
In a prior column for The Telegraph, he stressed that Russia must immediately release all illegally abducted Ukrainian children, calling it both a humanitarian and critical issue for future peace.
