Madyar trolls Putin as Ukrainian drones strike deep inside St. Petersburg

"An anniversary oil hub, successfully lit up by a freedom-loving Ukrainian bird," he wrote on Telegram, showcasing the drone which bore the handwritten message, "Grab buckets and put out St. Pete."

The commander emphasized that the raid on the St. Petersburg oil terminal marked Ukraine's 20th successful attack on Russian oil infrastructure within a 33-day period, spanning from May 1 to June 3.

He also used the opportunity to troll Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, making a sarcastic nod to "the sacred roots of the dictator, where the 'Leningrad street' taught Vova [Vladimir - ed.] 60 years ago to strike first." Brovdi was referencing Putin's past comments regarding Russia's military interventions, when the dictator claimed, "The Leningrad street taught me one rule: if a fight is inevitable, you have to strike first."

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck Russian facilities across St. Petersburg and Tambov Oblast overnight on June 3.

The targeted St. Petersburg Oil Terminal is located approximately 1,100 kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Ukraine's Special Operations Forces clarified that it is one of the largest oil terminals on the Baltic Sea, equipped with 31 reservoirs holding a total capacity of 324,000 cubic meters.

The drone strikes caused massive fires in the city, particularly near the port area and the oil terminal. Local authorities confirmed hits on "infrastructure facilities" and structural damage across three city districts.

The successful operation took place on the opening day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, where Putin is scheduled to deliver a speech.
