Ukraine knocks out 17 of 24 Russian attack drones and an X-58 missile, Odesa Oblast was hit

Russia launched 24 Shahed-131/136 type attack drones against Ukraine overnight on April 8, the Air Force reported on Telegram.

The Air Force managed to take down 17, though an object in Odesa Oblast was hit, they said.

Russia has launched several waves of drones at the critical infrastructure of Southern Ukraine, especially targeting Odesa Oblast.

Drone debris also damaged a petrol station, though no casualties were reported.

Russia launched the drones from Cape Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as from Kursk and Yeysk in Russia.

Russian forces also launched a Kh-59 guided air missile from temporarily occupiedZaporizhzhya Oblast.

Fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare equipment were involved in repelling the air attack.

Ukrainian air defense managed to destroy:

• One guided air missile Kh-59 in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
• 17 Shahed drones in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytskyi, and Zhytomyr oblasts

Russia fired an Iskander-M missile at a utility facility near Odesa on April 6, killing a civilian employee.

Russian forces also attacked the oblast’s port infrastructure on April 7. Administrative and technical buildings were damaged, and an employee was injured.
