Estonia will provide Ukraine with defense assistance worth more than EUR 100 million in 2024 and will continue to provide comprehensive support for 10 years.
In addition, agreement enshrines cooperation in the supply of arms and military equipment, training, IT coalition activities, and in-depth cooperation in the defense industry. Also, Ukraine and Estonia will launch a regular Strategic Dialogue to discuss security and defense issues.
Lithuania undertakes to provide Ukraine with security support and modern military equipment in the land, air, maritime, space, and cyber-electromagnetic spheres.
In addition, Lithuania will potentially resume a military training mission in Ukraine.
The document also enshrines support for the Ukrainian peace formula and the country's membership in the EU and NATO.
On the Lithuanian side, the agreement was signed by President Gitanas Nausėda, on the Estonian by Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Brussels on June 27 to attend a meeting of the European Council and sign three security agreements.
According to Zelenskyy, agreement with the EU will for the first time enshrine the commitment of all 27 member states to provide Ukraine with broad support despite any institutional changes within the country.
“Every step is for the sake of bringing our historic goal closer - peace and prosperity in our European home,” the president stated.
Earlier, Interfax-Ukraine wrote that a bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and the EU is to be signed on June 27 at a meeting of the European Council.
Ukraine has already signed bilateral security agreements with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, the United States, and Japan.
