Ukraine stabilizes Dnipropetrovsk front as Russia presses attacks in Sumy

Stanislav Bunyatov, a Ukrainian soldier who writes under the callsign Osman and runs the Telegram channel Govoryt Snaiper, said most of the stabilization on the Dnipropetrovsk axis was achieved after Russian forces redeployed a significant portion of their reserves toward the Huliaipole direction, Dec. 15.

“On the Dnipropetrovsk direction, the situation has been more or less stabilized due to the withdrawal of most enemy reserves to the Huliaipole direction,” Bunyatov said.

He added that small Russian assault groups continue to advance daily along the entire line of contact. While most of these troops are being eliminated by Ukrainian forces, some manage to survive and withdraw.

On the Sumy front, Bunyatov said Russian forces continue active assault operations, often timing their movements to coincide with poor weather.

“However, the experience of local units and their knowledge of the terrain allow them to effectively destroy the enemy and prevent the implementation of its plans,” he said.

Ukrainian forces liberated the village of Tykhe in the Dnipropetrovsk region after driving out Russian troops, Dec. 5.

It was reported on Dec. 9 that two servicemembers from Ukraine’s 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade captured six Russian soldiers a day earlier in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The prisoners were taken during strike-and-search operations on the Oleksandrivka direction. The brigade said that despite constant Russian attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses, its troops are holding the line and continuing to advance, gradually liberating Ukrainian territory.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told journalists that a U.S. plan to end the war includes the withdrawal of Russian forces from occupied parts of the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions, Dec. 11.
