Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck several key Russian targets overnight, including an oil refinery in Tuapse, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said on Apr. 20.

In particular, the Tuapse oil refinery in Russia’s Krasnodar Oblast was struck again. Hits were recorded in the tank farm, followed by a fire at the facility, the General Staff said.

The Hvardiiske oil depot in temporarily occupied Crimea was also hit.

The General Staff said the strikes on these facilities reduce the Russian aggressor’s ability to supply fuel to its military units.

A large landing ship of Project 1171 and a large landing ship of Project 775 were also struck, although the extent of the damage is still being assessed.

In addition, enemy ammunition depots were hit near the settlements of Urzuf in the temporarily occupied Donetsk Oblast and Loknya in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast.

A drone storage facility near Nova Karakuba and a command and observation post of Russian occupying forces near Blahodatne in Donetsk Oblast were also struck.

Overnight into April 20, drones carried out a second consecutive mass attack on the seaport in Tuapse, sparking new fires. Media reported about 10 fire locations following the strikes, including likely ignition of oil storage tanks at the Tuapse refinery.

A day earlier, a large-scale fire burned for more than 24 hours in the port of Tuapse, where an oil tanker was damaged.

The Tuapse oil refinery is part of Rosneft and is operated by RN-Tuapse Refinery LLC. It is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries, specializing in primary oil processing.
