Over the past year, Ukraine’s maritime corridor has seen
more than 2,300 ships enter its Black Sea ports, exporting around 44 million
tons of grain, with a total cargo turnover exceeding 64 million tons, according
to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
In the first half of 2024, Ukrainian exporters increased
their physical sales volumes by 35%, reaching pre-war export levels, Shmyhal
said.
He attributed this achievement to three factors: the
effective actions of security and defense forces in the Black Sea, a unique
initiative for insuring military risks for commercial vessels, and the
restoration and investment in Ukrainian port infrastructure.
Earlier reports indicated that Ukraine’s maritime corridor
has moved to a 24/7 operational mode.
