Russia fires 11 Iskander missiles and nearly 150 drones overnight

The attack began at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 and continued into the night of Feb. 9. Russia launched Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Russia’s Bryansk Oblast and deployed 149 drones, including Shahed-type attack drones as well as Gerbera and Italmas UAVs. About 90 of the drones were of Shahed type.

UAVs were launched from multiple directions, including Kursk, Oryol, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Shatalovo in Russia, as well as from occupied Donetsk and Crimea.

By 9:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defense shot down or suppressed 116 drones. Ukrainian forces also intercepted part of the Iskander-M missiles, preventing them from reaching their intended targets.

Despite the air defense activities, missiles and 23 attack drones hit 15 locations, while debris from intercepted targets fell at six additional sites.

Air Force noted that the reporting period includes earlier ballistic strikes on the Vasylkiv area in Kyiv Oblast, where Russia launched two waves of Iskander missiles on the evening of Feb. 8.

Separately, Russian strike hit an energy facility near the Novovolynsk community in Ukraine’s Volyn Oblast. More than 80,000 residents in Novovolynsk and nearby settlements remain without electricity. Critical infrastructure in the area is operating on backup generators.

In Odesa, Russian drone attack killed one man and injured two others. In the city of Bohodukhiv in Kharkiv Oblast, a woman and her 10-year-old child were killed as a result of the strikes.
