The State Emergency Service urged people not to approach or touch such drones and to immediately call 101 or 102.

On Jan. 5, The Washington Post reported that Russia has begun using new self-destructing drones in its war against Ukraine, including fiber-optic drones.
In December 2024, Kyrylo Budanov, head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, said Ukraine still has an advantage in drone warfare but warned that Russia’s large-scale use of FPV drones with fiber-optic cables poses a serious challenge for Ukrainian forces.
“This is a huge problem for us now because electronic warfare cannot stop them. This is a major development and a trend this year,” Budanov said.
