Ukrainian special forces destroy Russian equipment in Kursk Oblast – video

Ukraine’s Special Operations Forces (SSO), in coordination with Ukraine’s Defense Forces, repelled a Russian assault in Kursk Oblast, destroying five military vehicles and eliminating four soldiers, the military wrote on Jan. 8.

Drone operators from Ukraine’s SSO struck two Russian tanks and three armored vehicles.

Additionally, four Russian soldiers were neutralized in the failed enemy attack on Ukrainian positions.

While SSO did not disclose the exact location, they confirmed that Ukrainian forces successfully repelled the assault.

New Ukrainian offensive in Kursk Oblast

On Jan. 5, reports emerged about the launch of a new Ukrainian offensive in certain areas of Kursk Oblast.

Later, Andrii Yermak, head of Ukraine’s Presidential Office, and Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, confirmed the operation.

Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said that Ukrainian forces resumed offensive actions in at least three sectors of Kursk Oblast and achieved tactical gains. According to Forbes, both Russian and Ukrainian forces launched simultaneous but separate attacks in different directions within Kursk Oblast, possibly as a strategic move to disrupt each other's operations.

On Jan. 7, National Guard spokesperson Ruslan Muzychuk reported that Russia is being forced to redeploy additional units to Kursk Oblast to strengthen its forces.

According to DeepState intelligence on Jan. 8, Russian forces have advanced in Novoivanivka and near Nova Sorochyna in Kursk Oblast.
