Meanwhile, DeepState also reported Russian advances in eastern Ukraine, noting that Moscow’s forces had made progress near Yampilivka, Stupochky, Toretsk, and Andriivka in Donetsk Oblast.
Ukraine’s General Staff has not officially confirmed the Defense Forces’ progress in Kursk Oblast, nor has it acknowledged Russian advances in the east. According to the General Staff’s nightly update, there were 116 combat engagements along the front line in the past 24 hours, with the heaviest fighting in the Pokrovsk direction, where 27 Russian attacks were recorded on Feb. 7.
DeepState also refuted claims that Russia had fully occupied Toretsk, clarifying that fighting is ongoing in the city.
Ukraine’s renewed offensive in Kursk Oblast
On Feb. 6, Russian military bloggers reported that Ukraine had launched a new offensive in Kursk Oblast, pushing toward Fanasiivka and Ulanok. Some claimed Ukrainian forces had seized Cherkaska Konopelka and Ulanok, while Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed that Ukraine had launched new attacks in the region.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that as of Feb. 6, Ukrainian forces had advanced up to five kilometers beyond Russian defensive lines southeast of Sudzha.
A day later, on Feb. 7, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed in an interview with Reuters that Ukraine’s Defense Forces had launched a new offensive in Kursk Oblast, pushing 2.5 kilometers forward.
