According to Ukrainian troops, on the morning of Sep. 10, three armored vehicles—two BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles and a T-72 tank—advanced from Russian territory across the state border near the positions of the 92nd Brigade.
"Our guys gave the occupiers a ‘warm’ welcome: artillery, anti-tank units, the Achilles anti-tank system, drone units from assault battalions, and the fire support company were all engaged," said representatives of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
Fighting in the Kharkiv region: What we know
On Aug. 22, Ukraine’s 3rd Assault Brigade reported successful operations in the Kharkiv sector, including a counterattack that took control of a Russian battalion defense area, enemy platoon and company strongholds, and advanced nearly 2 square kilometers into the front.
On Aug. 30, brigade press officer Oleksandr Borodin said that the Russian army had increased the size of its assault groups following Ukrainian forces’ offensive actions in Kharkiv.
According to Borodin, brigade fighters managed to capture a key battalion defense area that served as a logistical route and protected the enemy’s right flank.
On Aug. 31, Maksym Zhorin, deputy commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade, announced that Ukrainian forces had pushed Russian occupiers back in the Kharkiv region, where stabilization efforts were underway. He added that Russian forces were attempting to regain lost positions, deploying new resources that the brigade was "successfully eliminating."
On Sep. 9, Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov stated that Synkivka, in the Kupiansk district, remains a contested "gray zone," where fighting is ongoing. He dismissed claims from Russian propagandists that Russian forces control the settlement.
