Fire Point reported the strike on Telegram on Sept. 20, saying preliminary information indicated that warehouses belonging to Sovremennye Skladskie Tekhnologii, or Modern Warehouse Technologies, were on fire.
Monitoring Telegram channel Supernova reported on Sept. 20 that drones had attacked warehouses in Sofyino in the Ramenskoye district of Moscow Oblast and published footage showing a major fire at the site.
Ukrainian Pravda also reported on Sept. 20 that a large fire had apparently broken out at the Sofyino logistics technopark following the drone attack.
Fire Point said the attack involved its FP-1 long-range strike drones. The company’s claim about the specific drones used and the extent of destruction has not been independently verified.
Russian media and local authorities confirmed significant consequences from the overnight drone attack across Moscow Oblast.
Moscow Oblast Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported on Sept. 20 that air defenses and electronic warfare systems had shot down or suppressed 249 drones over 17 districts between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., with the most serious consequences recorded in the Ramenskoye district.
Pantsir system spotted near burning warehouses
Russian independent Telegram channel Astra reported on Sept. 20 that a Pantsir air-defense missile and gun system was positioned roughly 500 meters (1,640 feet) from the warehouse complex.
Fire Point later published an image showing what it identified as a Russian Pantsir system with the burning warehouses visible in the background.
“A Russian Pantsir air-defense missile and gun system in Moscow Oblast against the backdrop of burning warehouses. The ‘unparalleled’ system worked exactly as intended,” Fire Point wrote sarcastically on Telegram on Sept. 20.
The precise damage to the warehouse complex and its contents remains unclear.
Moscow refinery also hit during massive drone attack
Moscow and the surrounding region came under a large-scale drone attack overnight into Sept. 20.
A fire also broke out at the Moscow oil refinery in Kapotnya, in southeastern Moscow.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin acknowledged on Sept. 20 that a facility on the refinery’s territory had been damaged but said there were no casualties there.
Reuters reported on Sept. 20 that drones had hit the refinery and that smoke could be seen rising from the facility, although the full extent of the damage was not immediately clear.
Sobyanin claimed Russian air defenses had intercepted more than 150 drones heading toward Moscow during the attack. Earlier in the morning, he put the number at 151.
The Russian claims about the number of drones intercepted could not be independently verified.
