Citing research by Prognosis and Shopper’s, the FIS noted that 34% of respondents have recently started saving on food, while another 47% were already doing so due to a lack of funds.
Thus, more than 80% of Russians are limiting their spending on basic needs to some extent.
Financial difficulties are also affecting clothing purchases. Nearly 40% of respondents are postponing buying new clothes due to a lack of money, and about 20% stated they cannot afford such purchases at all.
The intelligence agency emphasized that the decline in the population's well-being is occurring amid rapidly growing state expenditures on the war. Significant budget resources are being directed toward the military-industrial complex and the financing of combat operations, while the civilian sector of the economy increasingly faces a lack of funds.
Despite the Kremlin's claims about the resilience of the Russian economy to sanctions, the country's residents are increasingly facing rising prices, reduced purchasing power, and the need to save on everyday goods - the trend FIS assesses to persist.
