Ukraine has already passed its request for an Easter ceasefire to the United States, but does not know whether Washington will be able to convey the message to Moscow.
“We all saw in the media their response: they (the Russians — ed.) are apparently not ready for this,” Zelenskyy said.
“I don’t know how serious that response is. We have passed our request to the American side. I don’t know whether they will have the opportunity to pass their message to the Russians. We’ll see.”
On March 30, Zelenskyy said that Kyiv is ready to discuss any form of ceasefire, including a potential Easter truce.
“We are ready to talk about any ceasefire,” he said at the time, adding that Ukraine has proposed a “full ceasefire,” including halting attacks on energy infrastructure and ensuring no strikes by missiles or drones across land, sea, or air.
“Full ceasefire — no missiles, no drones, no strikes on infrastructure,” Zelenskyy said. “We have proposed all of this. We are open. If the Russians are ready — please, we are ready. Let them propose any time — we are ready to resolve this issue.”
On April 3, Russian forces carried out massive air assault on Ukraine, firing 26 Kh-101 cruise missiles, nine Iskander-M ballistic missiles, along with approximately 500 drones. At least seven oblasts were targeted.
