UNESCO condemned the Russian attack on Odesa, which damaged an architectural monument under its protection on Nov. 18.
In an official letter, UNESCO condemned the Russian attack on Odesa's historic center, stating it hit several UNESCO-protected buildings.
The organization reported that on Nov. 15, experts were sent to assess the damage, which affected around 20 buildings, including historical, religious, and educational sites. UNESCO called the attacks a violation of international law and expressed support for the victims.
The historic center of Odesa was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in January 2023.
