Commenting on a draft Cabinet resolution changing how deferments
work, Bobrovska said it remained unclear why the national leadership had not
identified industries experiencing an unusually large increase in the number of
workers receiving deferments.
“Why does this increase happen every month? we now have 1.5
million people with deferments, and that number continues to grow,” she said.
“In fact, 30,000 to 50,000 people receive deferments every
month.”
On Oct. 12, lawmaker Yaroslav Zheleznyak released a
draft Cabinet resolution that proposed reducing the deferment limits for the
defense industry and energy sectors from 100% to 85%, and for municipal
companies from 75% to 60%.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara said he
supported granting the maximum possible number of deferments to workers in the
defense industry.
On Oct. 16, Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi confirmed
the Cabinet was reviewing the system for granting mobilization deferments
because of “widespread abuses.”
