Ukrainian tennis player dominates American rival to reach US Open second round — video

Oliynykova earned direct entry into the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the fourth consecutive time this season. In the opening round, the Ukrainian displayed commanding form to sweep past American wildcard Brantmeier.
Oliynykova broke her opponent's serve twice in the opening set to comfortably take the lead. She maintained firm control through the second set, wrapping up a comprehensive victory.

Oliynykova will next face world No. 18 Alexandra Eala, who eliminated qualifier Mary Stoiana in her opening match with a 6–1, 6–2 victory.
The win marks Oliynykova’s maiden main-draw match victory at the US Open. In 2026, she also advanced to the second round at Roland Garros.
A day earlier, Ukrainian player Yulia Starodubtseva also launched a successful campaign at the 2026 US Open.
Ukrainian No. 1 Elina Svitolina earlier advanced to the second round of the 2026 tournament.
Marta Kostyuk defeated Australia's Storm Hunter in straight sets to book her place in the second round, while Dayana Yastremska became the first Ukrainian to exit this year’s competition.
