“If Russia makes the wrong choice to continue this catastrophic war, the United States will have to consider suspending our efforts to facilitate a peaceful resolution," Kelley said.
"We will not abandon our principles or our allies, but we acknowledge Russia’s refusal to engage constructively.”
He stressed that if Russia and Ukraine are genuinely interested in achieving peace, the US is ready to support that process together with European partners and the UN, including by launching a meaningful ceasefire framework.
At the same time, Kelley highlighted that the United States insisted on both parties negotiating in good faith.
He relayed the stance of US President Donald Trump, saying that Trump is interested in cooperating with Russia within the framework of a peace initiative.

"President Putin should accept it.”
The US called on both sides to make a difficult but historically significant decision — to achieve peace. Kelley also warned that if one side is not ready, that side will bear full responsibility for the consequences.
