Ukrainian Railways restored stable online ticket sales and other app services after a major cyberattack, switching to a new platform overnight, the state railway company reported on Telegram on March 29.

The transition to a new platform bolsters security while experts continue to rebuild additional features.

The mobile app now supports trip planning with transfers, and online station timetables are slated to resume throughout the day, Ukrainian Railways said.

The company noted no lines at station ticket counters.

The cyberattack on Ukrainian Railways

The cyberattack hit Ukrainian Railways’ IT systems on March 23, halting ticket purchases via the app and website, as well as other online services.

On March 24, the company confirmed it was a targeted enemy assault, prompting railway ticket counters to ramp up operations—Kyiv’s main station, for instance, opened 18 counters instead of the usual eight.

On March 27, Ukrainian Railways restored ticket buying and returns online, but users reported widespread issues the next day due to system overload.

The company confirmed new failures due to the increased load on the system and announced the opening of additional ticket counters at railway stations.
