Russia deploys assault groups in Vovchansk, attempts to improve frontline logistics and communication

The invaders continue to attack the Armed Forces positions in Kharkiv Oblast.

"The enemy launched assault groups from the 4th sabotage and reconnaissance assault brigade in Vovchansk, trying to carry out logistical support of the soldiers and improve the communication system," the message said.

The enemy is concentrating its efforts on conducting aerial reconnaissance, and carrying out engineering and fortification improvement of positions northwest of the village of Tykhe.

Five combat clashes took place on Aug. 11 , the Russian troops made 32 strikes with kamikaze drones and carried out 365 attacks, Kharkiv OTU said.

Three more combat clashes have continued since the beginning of the day: two near Vovchansk, and one northwest of Tykhe. Over the past day, the Russian army lost 93 soldiers in Kharkiv Oblast only.

The Ukrainian military destroyed and damaged 46 units of Russian military equipment, namely:

• 11 artillery systems
• 12 cars
• three units of special equipment
• 20 drones.

Vovchansk situation

After Russian forces attempted to breach Ukrainian defenses near Vovchansk in Kharkiv Oblast on May 10, Ukrainian troops regained control over most of the city, Khortytsia Operational and Strategic Group of Troops reported in June.

Russian occupiers had moved three assault groups to Vovchansk to replace casualties, the Kharkiv military group reported on July 2.

Russia was attempting to regroup its units in the direction of Liptsi and Vovchansk and was preparing for attacks on the city, the military said on July 13.

The ISW recorded the advance of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Vovchansk on July 26.

Russian troops near Vovchansk are preparing for an assault, regrouping, and conducting personnel rotations, Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Unit (OTU) reported on Aug. 10.
