Russian forces have occupied Vuhledar, Donetsk Oblast,
raising their flags over the town center, Deep State open-source intelligence
project reported on Oct. 1.
"Russians have occupied Vuhledar—they are displaying their flags in every corner of the city," the message reads.
No further details were provided by the analysts. Official Ukrainian sources have not confirmed or denied the loss of Vuhledar.
Earlier the same day, Donetsk regional governor Vadym Filashkin reported that the situation in Vuhledar was dire, with Russian forces nearly reaching the city center.
On Sept. 30, Deep State reported that Russian troops had entered Vuhledar from the west and south.
On Sept. 24, the analysts warned that the situation in Vuhledar was critical and worsening, as the Russian army was encircling the city, bombarding the area with artillery and glide bombs.
